Timex T49612 “Expedition Trail Series” Review 2015

Writing a review for a watch that deserves to be handled is something I’m not exactly happy about, but since you won’t find this is almost any retail store, you’ll just have to trust me on this one.

If you have the passion for adventure and exploration, then good thing you are on this website, and even better that you made it to this page.  Timex has  a long history of function over form, and survival over splendor.  Not much has changed, as what we have here is a full on survival watch, featuring…

  1. Highly accurate Digital Compass
  2. Light weight but durable
  3. 660 feet water resistant (200m)
  4. Indiglo® night-light for full watch usage in pitch dark (night mode)
  5. 100 hour chronograph

The digital compass is something worth narrowing in on, due to its basis on the 16 cardinal points measured in degrees.  This works perfectly with geographic and topographical maps whenever you are setting your declination angle.

The watch strap is resin based, not to be confused with plastic.  Though it is more similar to a hard rubber.  The resin based strap is tough but it also has some elasticity for a comfortable fit.  Surprisingly, this watch doesn’t give you sweaty wrists.  No one likes sweaty wrists.

Admittedly, it is a 60$ watch and will still not feel the quality has Suunto Watch
for example.  If the Timex T49612 was a more expensive watch (200$) for example, then this review would have gone much different.  For the price and functionality that you get, it is quite the bargain.  And if you someone who is picky about how a watch fits and feels, this is also a good choice.
